If you’re ever up in the night staying up late with a movie, heeding the call of nature, or maybe for a midnight snack, you probably have some kind of illumination to help you out. It could be a small lamp, night light, or even the light above the stove. But if you’re ready to save an outlet while still having light at night, grab your wallet while you check out the SnapRays Guidelight by Snap Power.
The SnapRays Guidelight replaces your standard outlet cover plate. Within each of these are a series of LED lights and a light sensor. When it starts to get dark in the house, the sensors automatically turn on the LEDs, which provide illumination around the socket without having to have anything plugged in. The lights turn off again in the morning when it gets bright enough inside.
Proprietary technology allows the SnapRays Guidelight to draw power from the outlet without the need for an electrician or having to hardwire anything. As the Guidelight is being installed, its “Power Extractors” slide right in and make contact with the outlet. That’s it!
The LEDs are bright and energy efficient, using only pennies worth of power per year. All the while, the SnapRays Guidelight blends with your home like any normal, ordinary power socket with both outlets free. You can replace all of your duplex or decor plates; Ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets, typically found in bathrooms, are incompatible.
The SnapRays Guidelight is available in choice of white, light almond, and ivory colors for duplex and decor. Check out Snap Power’s Kickstarter page for more photos and to pledge for your own. So far, most backers have been going for three or more Guidelights.
