TaskLab’s myTask Urban case

Phone cases that simply encase your phone are so 2011. We all know about wallet cases, of course. Now here comes a case that would be perfect for MacGyver. Or MacGruber.

Coming to Kickstarter on March 18 will be new iPhone 5/5S cases from TaskLab. The myTask series will feature two cases — Bike and Urban. They’re “perfect if you plan a bike ride to the park, a night out on the town or if you are headed to the office for a hard day’s work,” says the company. They provide “easy access to incredibly useful tools and accessories that you will always need, but never have.”

It all centers around a base snap-in case with interchangeable trays. If your bike gets a flat, and you have myTask Bike with you, you’ll have a pedal/axel wrench, six allen wrench, three tire patches, Phillips screwdriver, flat head screwdriver, four metric box wrenches, two tire levers, a bottle opener and two bicycle spoke wrenches available to you, just like that. The Urban case includes a USB drive, comb, nail file, two-inch scissors, tweezers, stylus pen, regular pen, bottle opener, Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, a ruler, a mirror, and a three-mode LED light. Seriously.

TaskLabs says the cases somehow are “just as slim or slimmer than your average iPhone case.” We can’t wait to see these.

Curious what this actually looks like in practice? Here’s a little teaser the company posted that gives some clues:

You can preorder myTask cases starting on March 18th. Orders will be shipped in July.
