The Year 2013 ended with us knowing that Sony sold 2.1 million PlayStation 4 units only within two weeks of launch. After almost three months, the gaming console is Number 1 again in the United States.
This one is expected. Personally, I prefer the Sony PS4 over the Xbox One. But then again the Xbox One was able to beat PS4’s ranking for some time. Not in the latest month though as NPD Group reports that Sony sold 287,000 PlayStation 4s compared to the 258,000 units of Xbox One Microsoft sold.
Hardware sales went up to 42 percent compared to last year’s number for the same month and 44 percent over January. Meanwhile, Nintendo is not sharing how many gaming consoles they sold.
Despite PS4 leading the game, Microsoft is ecstatic over the victories of its Xbox consoles. For one, software sales saw 2.75 games for every Xbox One console sold. In February, Xbox 360 sold 2.46 million games and Xbox One 772,000 video games. Xbox One and Xbox 360 are also part of the top 10 games in the same month. Titles include the following: “NBA 2K14,” “Battlefield 4,” and “Thief,” “Call of Duty: Ghosts,” “Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare,” “Fable Anniversary,” “Grand Theft Auto V,” “Minecraft,” and “The LEGO Movie Videogame.”
