Pop quiz: name one high-end WP designed by HTC or Samsung. Exactly. But what if the former was to roll out a spin-off of its recently released One (M8) with virtually the same design, identical internals and Windows Phone 8.1 instead of Android 4.4 KitKat?
Sounds like a waste of time and resources, since Android is so much more popular than Windows Phone, however for the latter platform, it could be a major notoriety boost. Just be quick about it, HTC, because in a few months, with LG’s G3, Nexus 6 and Apple’s iPhone 6 probably out, nobody’s going to be interested in an underwhelming Full HD, 2 GB RAM-packing, UltraPixel cam-touting M8.
Unless the rumored Windows-running HTC flagship will come boasting a host of hardware tweaks. For starters, a RAM boost, to 3 gigs, would be awfully nice. Oh, and forget the UltraPixel hogwash. Give us megapixels, a lot of them. Maybe a Snapdragon 805 chip too?
Guess everything’s possible, but remember, this is mere gossip at the moment. Based on the word of fairly reliable “insiders”, yet unsubstantiated gossip nevertheless.
