We’ve been saying Android is King but in the tablet game, Apple is still the winner. More than 70 million iPads were sold last year alone while Samsung only sold 37 million. The Cupertino company holds about 30 percent of the market but Samsung is trailing close behind. Looks like the tablet battle is just between that two tech giants which means it will only get worse year after year.
Samsung has captured 20 percent of the global market already and the past three months, the South Korean electronics company sold 14 million units. Thanks to the numerous models of slates Samsung has released or yet to launch: there’s the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, the other Galaxy Tab 4 slates, Galaxy Tab Pro, Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, and Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 among others.
On the other hand, Apple only has a handful of iPad models: iPad 2, iPad 3, the new iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air. Samsung has more.
Last quarter’s Samsung sales were better than the previous year’s last quarter. And with the demand for tablets increasing, we can expect more tablets will fly off the shelves.
This 2014, Samsung’s goal is to double the sales– a minimum of 60 million tablets. I don’t think Samsung will fail because on Q1 alone, 14 million units were sold.
