It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Nokia’s upcoming 4.7-inch mid-range handset. Dubbed “Superman” on the inside, but most likely to be marketed under a far less exciting name, the smartphone is expected to run Windows Phone 8.1 (duh) and facilitate the capturing of the crispest duckfaces ever.
According to The Verge and “sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans”, the “man of steel” shall pack a 5 MP front-facing camera in spite of its sensible price point. Granted, we’ve seen similar selfie-dedicated devices around before, and even a couple with 8 MP front snappers, but none ran WP.
This is obviously also a first for Nokia, which has a knack for developing the best performing smartphones in the imaging department, so all ye Instagram aficionados, be sure to stick around.
It might still be a while, as the Superman launch is reportedly set for the year’s second half, but the waiting is likely to pay off. As long as you dig Windows Phone 8.1, the evolved version of Microsoft’s mobile software tipped to get at least a couple of updates in 2014.
The first should debut in July with an unknown fresh Nokia Lumia, whereas the second may break cover alongside the “Superman” in the fall. Up, up and away!
