Dell has announced its new Venue 7 and 8 tablets at Computex 2014. Both of the tablets will be sold for less than $200, though they are also more expensive than the previous Venue tablets of the same sizes. Dell’s Venue 7 features a 1280-by-800 display, 16GB of storage, and a very low weight of 0.64 pounds. That tablet will be sold for $160 and will be made available in both black and red.
Stepping up from the Venue 7 is the Venue 8 which, at a $40 greater price tag, comes with an improved display and specs. The Venue 8 includes at 1920-by-1200 display and also has an Intel Atom Z3480 processor which means that it should be faster than the Venue 7 in any test that it is put through. The one downside to the larger display and higher specs is that the tablet will weigh 0.74 pounds, though that it is still perfectly fine for a $200 tablet with those specs.
Dell’s original Venue 7 and 8 had cost $150 and $180 respectively, with their overall prices being lower and the difference between them being smaller. With the slight increase in price comes higher specs and what Dell says are greatly improved displays. The improved display is reportedly present on the Venue 7 as well, even though the tablet’s resolution has not changed.
