HTC has announced that the plastic version of its One M8 flagship will be heading to “selected markets” in the first part of June. The One E8 had already been confirmed for a launch in China but today’s announcement suggests that the plastic M8 will be heading to even more markets around the world. There is almost no major difference between the M8 and the E8 except for the materials HTC is using in the device.
There is a dual-SIM option that had been leaked in regards to the One E8 in China but it sounds like other countries will have the ability to get two SIM cards installed as well. HTC says that there are four different colors to choose from with the E8, blue, red, black, and white.
When it comes to specs, the E8 is essentially the same to the flagship M8 which feels more premium because the majority of its casing is metal. The E8 has a 5-inch 1080p screen, Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and a 13-megapixel camera. The camera is actually one of the few things that HTC has adjusted for the budget version of the M8–the regular M8 uses HTC’s dual-lens Ultrapixel sensor. Many people have complained about the somewhat gimicky Ultrapixel so some may actually prefer the E8 with its more traditional camera.
