ipad-miniFirst, Apple heavily bolstered its refurbished iPad line-up, discounting all versions except for the Air in the process. And now Target takes things to a whole new level, slashing the price of unused first-gen iPad minis to $199.

Oh, if only Father’s Day was every day. But there’s really no time for complaining, or overanalyzing the deal. It’s a never before seen promotion and it could expire any minute now. Regularly available for $300, the 16 GB Wi-Fi-only iPad mini can sometimes be found at $270 or $250 via certain retailers.

But $199? It’s the all-time lowest price of the 7.9-inch slab by 40 bucks or so, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday special offers. And the one catch is online orders are clogged. So what you need to do is find a brick and mortar Target location nearby, visit it and hope you’re lucky. Or use the online store locator and reserve a copy for pickup.

Either way, there are no strings attached whatsoever, no fine print you have to take into consideration, rebates or refurbished program you need to worry about. The iPad minis are brand new, pack A5 speed, run iOS 7 and last up to 10 hours on a single charge. iDevices have never been as affordable.

  1. Tip: I went to Target and they said they were sold out in 30 minutes. So, I drove to the local ToysRus and saw that they had them in stock. I then showed them the Target ad and they price matched their $299 IPad Mini to the $199! My co-worker did the same thing at Staples…Wal-Mart also had them in stock for $249 at our stores in Columbia, Maryland! Price-matching works!!!
