The Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo may have technically replaced the Galaxy Gear as the hottest Samsung smartwatches out and about, but thanks to Best Buy, the first-gen wearable device is once again deserving of a well-lit place in the spotlight.
Likely for a limited time only, so be sure to take advantage of BB’s promotion ASAP. The Galaxy Gear, in a “Geek Squad” certified refurbished edition, costs $89.99, which is a whopping $210 off the gizmo’s list price.
The initial list price, that is, because due to underwhelming demand and the launch of the Gear 2/Gear 2 Neo duo, a spanking new Galaxy Gear has dropped to $199.99 through Best Buy and $169.99 on Amazon.
Still, at worst, you save 70 bucks, which is a good chunk of cash, and score a top-notch wearable piece for peanuts. I mean, refurb unit or no refurb unit, coughing up 90 clams for a Galaxy Gear is redonkulous, as the gadget accommodates 512 MB RAM, 4 GB built-in storage, an 800 MHz processor, 315 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and 1.63-inch 320 x 320 touchscreen.
Also, the same operating system found on the fresher Gear 2 and Neo, Tizen, courtesy of a recent software upgrade removing almost all traces of Android. Remember, you’ll need a compatible Samsung smartphone or tablet to enjoy the smartwatch’s full functionality, and since it’s a refurb, the warranty lasts just 90 days. Still an outstanding deal, right?
