Birksun will show its new line of solar portable power accessories at CE Week, to be held June 25 and 26 in New York. The line consists of three solar charging packs, two lightweight power banks, and Apple-certified Lightning cables.
Unlike many other solar power products, the charging units have built-in USB sockets, so you can simply plug in your phone and start charging. Other products, says the company, take up to eight hours before any “meaningful” charging occurs.
“[We] believe BirkSun is an experience that is defined by the harmony of electronics and fabric,” said the company in a statement. “Multiple exposed wires and adapters have been reduced to a single built-in USB socket whose sole purpose is direct, seamless charging of smartphones.”
Birksun claims its solar panels can generate electricity even when not in direct sunlight, and can also charge from traditional wall outlets. The panels are said to be waterproof and durable, able to be dropped or thrown on cement or dirt repeatedly.
The lightweight power banks are external USB batteries that are eight millimeters thick and less than one pound. They can fully recharge a smartphone up to six times.
