The S5 Mini launch is just around the corner, and SamMobile says that a global release could come as soon as mid-July. An anonymous inside source has told the publication that Samsung’s mini version of the flagship S5 will come with similar features, though its specs will not be as high. Important features like a heart rate sensor and fingerprint scanner are reportedly present in the S5 Mini, and the phone may even come with the same dust and waterproof rating.
Leaks have been building up around the S5 Mini during the past few weeks, and those leaks have provided the public with a full list of specifications. When the phone hits global retailers sometime next month, the device will reportedly come with a 4.5-inch 720p display. As for primary components, the phone will be running 1.5GB of RAM, a Samsung Exynos CPU, 8 MP rear camera, and Android 4.4.2 KitKat overlayed with TouchWiz.
Specs for the mini versions of Samsung’s flagships have always been little more than average, but the Galaxy S5 Mini does sound like it will be a worthwhile device for people who like cheaper and smaller phones.
Nothing has been confirmed, but the mid-July release date definitely sounds right.
