I hate our living room couch. Despite the fact it looks like plush moss, its comfort is ill-fit for any upright vertebrate that wants to avoid long-term back problems. But, of course, it’s the default sitting location for the primary household television. As such, I also hate our living room TV.

Thankfully, we live in a modern age where wireless connectivity is prevalent everywhere, and there is a plethora of media consumption options on the internet. With smartphone, tablet, or laptop in hand, we’re able to break from traditional confines and watch what we want almost where we want.

Linksys Range Extender RE6500However, such freedom isn’t equal. It matters little what you’re paying and less what you think you’re getting. That basic router can only do so much so far, before you’re left counting the waiting seconds while buffering. And is watching video one room over the best you can do?

If you want to make the most of the bandwith you have, while enjoying a longer wireless leash, you’ll need some extra hardware. Those lofty download numbers pale when at a network’s fringe. Linksys has just announced its latest WiFi Range Extenders, which will let users enjoy streaming content further than ever before.

The Linksys AC1200 MAX Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE6500) boasts a 10,000 sq.ft area of coverage. Even through exterior walls, this should be more than enough to cover every pocket of a home (and then some). Imagine all the places you can hide from your family, secretly enjoying cartoons on Adult Swim without them: garage, attic, backyard treehouse. The Linksys AC1200 features Cross-Band technology, which maintains a better signal since one band handles receiving data while the other handles sending. If you like to enjoy competitive gaming online, maximizing data throughput is critical.

Not only can you hardwire in devices to the range extender, but users can connect a speaker via audio cable. Bluetooth envy no longer. You can now stream music to those stereo systems from the comfort of your mobile device or computer.

If you wanted a bit of an edge but didn’t need the overkill, Linksys also has their N300 (RE3000W) and N600 (RE4000W) models available. You can save a few bucks at the expense of some range and wireless audio.
