Details about a new HTC phone, which is a basically a reconfiguration of the Android-based One M8 for Windows Phone, are trickling their way onto tech sites all over net. And apparently, the phone will be called “One (W8) for Windows”.
Verizon will be getting the device “during the third quarter, or no later than the end of September.”
According to other reports, Microsoft stores plan to launch the device on August 21. The full price of the phone off-contract is $610, whereas the on-contract price will be somewhere around $199.
Microsoft stores will be receiving stocks of various accessories, such as the Dot View case that supplements the “smart cover” feature included in the Windows Phone 8.1 Update I. The One M8 for Windows is expected to come in silver.
The W8 will most likely be a clone of the M8, and will also be the first Windows Phone to have Voice over LTE (VoLTE) – another feature included in Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1. It will also boast BoomSound and Duo cameras, which will greatly enhance audio and imaging respectively.
At the moment, there is no news whether other carriers, such as AT&T, will be offering the phone in August.
