The already crowded list of IFA protagonists is about to overflow, as HTC has just joined Samsung, Sony, Huawei, LG, Acer and Asus in a collective effort to tease the hell out of Berlin’s prestigious consumer electronics trade show.
Much like all the other confirmed IFA participants, HTC looks intent on keeping things vague in the lead-up to the tech fair, naming no names of gear to be showcased on September 4. Unlike everyone else though, the One M8 makers refuse to drop the slightest of hints in regards to their plans, which could suggest they have something big in the pipeline… or the complete opposite.
Their save the date press invite merely features the company’s slogan, “quietly brilliant”, the date, location and time of the event (by the by, 8 am?!?), and some sort of nondescript artwork. Are those… curves? Could HTC unveil a Samsung Galaxy Round-like curved display handheld?
It’s possible, everything is really, but based on history, we’d guess a One Max sequel or fresh, conventional, budget-friendly Desires are less of a long shot. Sounds utterly unremarkable, however rumor is a 64-bit Desire is around the corner, which would make the September 4 breakfast quite scrumptious.
Especially if the “A11” is to carry one of those just-announced low-cost octa-core Snapdragon 615 powerhouses. It’s a stretch, sure, but that’s the beauty of expos like IFA. They allow you to dream about the impossible.
