Samsung has already launched the LTE-A version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 in South Korea, but it seems the Korean OEM is going to launch another variant of the flagship device for Singapore. Not too long ago, SingTel is prepping up to launch the world’s first commercial 300mbps LTE Advanced network, along with the availability of the Samsung Galaxy S5 4G+. The smartphone will utilize the fast connection speeds, and will go on sale on August 23rd, the same day when the 4G+ network will be available.
Mr Tay Yeow Lian, SingTel’s Managing Director of Networks, said: “From streaming videos to web surfing and uploading selfies, customers are doing more with their smartphones. With this launch, SingTel customers will be the first in the world to enjoy the benefits of the fastest phone on the fastest network. We are constantly enhancing our networks with the latest technologies to provide our customers with the best possible experience for today’s increasingly bandwidth-hungry applications,” he said.
The new smartphone also differs a little bit from the standard Galaxy S5, that is, it comes with a faster Snapdragon 805 chipset on board. Apart from that, we’re looking at the same Samsung Galaxy S5 which launched in the rest of the world. There’s a 5.1-inch display sporting a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage, coupled with a microSD card slot.
Other features include 16MP camera for photos and videos, a 2MP front-facing camera, 2,600 mAh battery and runs Android 4.4 KitKat as its operating system out of the box. As far as the pricing is concerned, the carrier is offering various plans starting from S$0 to S$688.
“Samsung is proud to unveil the first 4G LTE-Advanced smart phones in Singapore. We recognise that consumers aspire to do more, and what matters most to them is technology that helps them live the lifestyle they desire and gives them the quickest access to their apps and social networks. With devices like the Samsung GALAXY S5 4G+, consumers will be at the forefront of technology – and be able to use a smart phone that pairs powerful hardware with the fastest download speeds,” said Ms Irene Ng, Vice President, Regional Marketing, Samsung Asia Pte Ltd.”
The carrier also announced they’ll offer the Samsung Galaxy Alpha 4G+ in September, but didn’t reveal any details about its pricing, or if it will come with a different set of specifications than the standard model. However, rest assured that SingTel will offer the handset to its users.
