Ready for more high-end HTC handheld confusion and probably still no chance to challenge Samsung or even LG flagships? Rumor has it no radically redesigned One M9 sequel is in the pipeline by the year’s end, with the M9+ instead headed for Europe before September and a mystery “intermediate” Aero “tipped for release by Sprint, among other places, in early Nov.”
The word-for-word scoop comes from authoritative mobile insider Evan Blass, aka @evleaks, though the serial leaker seems to suggest he in turn bases his theory on someone else’s “tips.” Hopefully, someone with direct knowledge of HTC’s erratic product roadmap. Ideally, a high-ranking company official.
Now, it’ll be interesting to find out what our “leech” means by “intermediate”, and who else besides the American “Now Network” will pick up the Aero in the fall. A big visual revision appears out of the question nonetheless, and as for the phone’s target audience, we’re guessing phablet enthusiasts have something to look forward to.
A One Max 2 perhaps to finally follow in the footsteps of the 2013 5.9-inch OG? Maybe called One M9 Max to emphasize contemporary family ties? Sounds good, especially if it doesn’t go overboard on screen real estate and lands on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile in addition to Sprint. Still, some sort of exterior overhaul is mandatory.
