Earlier today, Skype announced their new partnerships with Creative, D-Link, IPEVO, Kodak, Netgear, Panasonic, and VTech. By working with these companies, Skype’s Internet Telephony service will be more widely available.
Kodak is the only company that Skype is partnering with that will offer a download as opposed to hardware. Kodak Photo Voice is their latest Skype-certified photo sharing service. A beta version of the software is available for download on Kodak’s website. Will Stofega, Research Manager, VoIP Services, IDC discusses Skpye’s hardware partnerships.
By moving Skype off the desktop and into handsets, the free service becomes much more compelling and familiar so that it may appeal to a wider range of callers.
