Optimus

A Russian design company called Art. Lebedev Studio has come up with the Optimus keyboard. It doesn’t look like the product has actually been made yet since it’s still Patent Pending, but the concept is fascinating. Each key has an OLED light display behind it that shows what each key does. The keys can change depending on what application you’re running. For example, if you’re using Photoshop with the Optimus keyboard, it might change the “V” key to “Paste” or the paste symbol. The mock up that’s pictured above has a group of application-launching keys on the left side of the keyboard. Each key displays the respective icon. Oh and did I mention that the keyboard is wireless? The keyboard is simply a dream until it gets manufactured. OLEDs are not cheap to come by so their promise of “It will cost less than a good mobile phone” may not be so feasible.
