PayPal, our favorite online payment center, has been looking to enter the mobile market for some time now. They have now just begun submitting job postings for a group called PayPal Mobile. The job descriptions describes PayPal Mobile as “a dynamic, young ‘start-up’ business unit within PayPal dedicated to bringing value-added mobile payment services to consumers and merchants. The payments subsidiary of online auction house eBay has posted ads on job boards for a business manager and a senior product manager in the ‘PayPal Mobile’ group.
TextPayMe, PayPal’s main competitor in the mobile market, has a service that allows users to send and receive funds using text messages, a technology that has gained much attention in Japan.
