If you’ve been putting off purchasing a new PC/laptop because you’re waiting for Windows Vista – like I am – wait no more. Microsoft announced that new hardware purchases made from October 26th onward will be eligible for a free upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista once it is released. The upgrade program is good from October 26, 2006 thru March 15, 2007, but be sure to first check the manufacturer. There is some thought to be given as to if you want to run an upgrade version as opposed to a root install, but either way it really does work.
