Verizon is reported to be in talks with YouTube to deliver videos to cellphones and television sets. Customers of Verizon Wireless would be able to view some YouTube videos on their cellphones through the carrier’s premium V Cast service. Verizon also would offer YouTube videos as an on-demand feature of a TV service it is launching throughout the nation.
This is a clear combat against Cingular’s video offerings as well as a way to get in touch with younger consumers’ daily lives. One concern of the deal would be copyright infringement, but I expect that those issues are being worked out regardless.
