G-Tech’s water repellent iPod case with built-in speakers

Ever worry about spilling liquid on your iPod and damaging it? Do you wish there was an easier way of letting people listen to music on your iPod than sharing earphones or carrying around external speakers? Enter G-Tech’s Sound Shell, a water-repellent, semi-hard case for the iPod. Besides protecting your iPod from environmental hazards, the Sound Shell also comes with built-in speakers and allows full control of the iPod with pressure-sensitive graphics on the outside of the case. The key to Sound Shell’s unique capability are the ElekTex smart fabric controls, as stated on the press release:

The stylish G-Tech Sound Shell utilizes ElekTex smart fabric controls, a unique five-layer laminate of electrically conductive materials that transforms fabric into an electronic touchpad. The ElekTex lightweight, washable material replaces the hard touch pads, flexi-circuits, and polymer switches which have limited the growth of the consumer electronics accessories market.

G-Tech’s Sound Shell is available in black and silver, and requires the use of 2 AAA batteries. No pricing information on the product page available as of yet.
