In a joint statement this week, Apple and Cisco have agreed to extend the time for Apple to respond to the lawsuit to allow for discussions between the companies with the aim of reaching an agreement on the trademark rights. Tensions between the two companies was as an all time high last month during the Apple release of it’s first cellphone, the iPhone, a name which Cisco claims to own the trademark to.

It’s nice to see the two companies putting down their legal weapons of trademark war and setting an example for all. I guess both companies finally realized that too much money is at stake over the iPhone name to sue and counter sue each other into oblivion. I’m just glad to see the two decided to play well with each other for the time being, but we don’t know how long the ceasefire will last.
