Laser TV, a cheap HDTV that doesn’t hang on your wall

Sony Laser TV
When it comes to HDTVs, Plasma and LCD pretty much takeover the market, but by this time next year, we should see a new technology entering the arena, Laser TVs (which we pre-viewed in April 2006). Laser TVs are a similar to the technology in DLPs, but these TVs have double the color range and costs manufacturers a lot less to produce. Less to produce should equal lower costs for us consumers.

From a performance standpoint, Laser TV makes plasma and LCD look like child’s play, but the two oldies still have something going for them: size. Since Laser TVs are a projection technology, they are a little big, and not exactly wall-mountable. It will be interesting to see where this goes in the future, because all I’m looking for is 1080p that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
