With the release of the Xbox 360 Elite and it’s built in 120 GB hard drive, 20 GB surely doesn’t sound like enough space (even if it is). In addition to the new competition from Xbox the 20 GB PlayStation 3 offering was always rather sub-par to the 60 GB model, which adds WiFi and a 3-in-1 memory card reader (Compact Flash, SD, and Memory Stick). Remember, only the 60 GB was launched in Europe.
SCEI spokesperson Satoshi Fukuoka said the 60 GB has always been the more popular of the two machines. Speaking to IDG News he stated, “The line-up [at SonyStyle] is decided based on market demand and so it’s not surprising that they are not selling it on their website. But if you go to a retailer you can find it.”
SonyStyle, Best Buy, GameStop and Electronics Boutique have all dropped the 20 GB version,
though some retailers, such as Amazon, still continue to stock it.
Update: We were not able to find the 20 GB unit on Amazon or any other major retailer.
