If you thought piracy was bad here, it seems you haven’t been to China. Microsoft spent millions of dollars advertising it’s “next gen” operating system, Windows Vista, only to sell a mere 244 copies in the asian country during the first 2 weeks of launch (Jan 19 – Feb 2), as quoted by a Vista Chief Distributor in Beijing. This is definitely a big blow to Microsoft after putting up the largest Vista ad on the 421-meter tall Jin Mao tower in Shanghai, China.
Piracy in China is rampant, as well as other asian countries, where a pirated copy of Windows Vista sells for around $1 on the streets. Some things never change, though we don’t condone piracy, I rather spend $1 then upwards of $200 for a copy of the OS.

This is actually good news for Microsoft. It's nearly double the market share they expected against other Vista sellers.
