Blackberry on Windows Mobile 6RIM announced today that later in the year they plan to offer a new software application suite for some Windows Mobile 6 devices that will allow users to run a Blackberry in virtualization. This would be similar to the way you can now run Windows on a Intel Mac using Parallels. With the ability to toggle between both, you can have your Blackberry and all the features it offers along with the best of WM6. When running WM6 your Blackberry will appear as an icon similar to other applications. When you click to launch your Blackberry, you will actually launch a suite of applications that will load and be a familiar Blackberry interface.

So for all you Crackberry addicts out there this may be good news as now you will have a wider variety of phones to choose from, and for anyone who currently uses and loves Windows Mobile this may be your chance to get that Blackberry experience without giving up your current phone. When available this will launch with AT&T.

  1. Has the blackberry connect software for Windows Mobile 6 been release yet? I have a HTC TnT II and I am looking for the blackberry software to hook-up to our companies blackbery enterprise server.

  2. Unfortunately, OS upgrades for WinMo devices aren't as simple as PCs. There's a whole maze of manufacturers, OEMs, providers, and MS to deal with. Any one of these could release official updates for your device.

As of yet, I don't think anyone is officially offering WM6 upgrades for any of their devices.

I got mine from the guys over at xda-developers.com who cooked it up for the wizard devices from a leaked developers copy. That's how good WM6 is IMO, I'm running a pre-release version that was officially developed for another device, and it still works better than WM5!

Anyways, if you have an HTC-built device, odds are pretty good that either an upgrade will eventually made available to you or will be hacked together by ROM cookers.
