Hewlett-Packard have entered the market with a dual-format Blu-ray/HD DVD drive, perfect for those in a similar position as me not wanting to up-take a favorable format.
The drive will not only be able to read both Blu-ray and HD-DVD discs, be able to write to both single- and double-layer Blu-ray discs at 2x.
I feel this is the way to go for most companies until we get a definite answer on who will win the “format war”. Expect to see prices steadily fall on this (and similar) products over the next few months as production ramps up.
