Price cut on un-released Drobo storage device

Following up on a story we previously covered, the world first storage device, the Drobo has received a 30% price cut of $200 due to decreased production costs.

For those not aware, the Drobo comes with four separate drive bays and can intelligently control the data managed on them. Say you’re streaming some media off drive 1, but need to swap out the drive it’s on? No problem for Drobo. Drobo will automatically swap the media to another drive.

In the previous post, Michael stated that he though the Drobo was a little expensive at $699, this price drop means the Drobo will now retail for $499 instead of $699 – all pre-ordering customers will receive $200 cash-back.
