samsung wafer sch-r510Today Alltel Wireless announced the new Samsung SCH-R510 or better known as the Wafer. This phone is appropriately named as it could be described as wafer thin being one of the thinnest phones currently available in the U.S.

“The Wafer represents the new era of form and function for phones in the United States,” said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president of Samsung Telecommunications America. “The handset demonstrates that a phone as thin as a few credit cards can deliver all of the features that consumers have come to expect of today’s high-end phones.”

Not only is the Wafer thin but also lightweight at just 2.7 oz. However don’t let the small package fool you, this phone is packed full of features. XM Radio Mobile, Axcess TV and Axcess Mobile Guide are just a few that should get you excited. The Wafer also features a 1.3 megapixel camera that is also video capable, an MP3 player, expandable memory slot and Bluetooth along with Alltel’s Celltop technology. Also pre-installed is the Axcess Search that allows customers to search for ringtones and wallpaper by holding down the pound key.

The Wafer is currently available at Alltel Wireless retail stores and at shopalltel.com for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a 2 year agreement.
