Foleo is to Fubar as rant is to this post

Remember back when Handspring (oh yeah) launched their Treo Phone? They didn’t make apologies, they didn’t say: this is as good as we have right now, if you want something great, wait until we figure that out. They were selling the phone as the best thing since sliced bread; Palm isn’t pushing Foleo like that.

That seems to be the company line with Foleo, “wait till you see what we can do in the future.” It seemed a lot like an internal meeting at Palm that was opened up to the public. If so, it would be kinda cool if billed that way. But it was billed as a whole new niche, and save for a few execs who can’t see their Smartphone screen, it ain’t gonna happen.

As a fan of their original devices and the promise of smartphones, I don’t see it. I’ve read comments, watched the webcast, read the press and visited the site; nobody sees this happening. Heck, the YouTube content is choppy at best? Seriously I would get thrown not just out of my job but out of the building if I pitched a device like this. Hawkin’s defense is YouTube is new. OMFG.

I wanted this to be more, much more. I won’t wait while they figure this out. Will you?
