Earlier this month Amp’d mobile was forced to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. With just about 200k customers things seemed like they were going OK, but it seems they just could not keep up with the growth and are also having to deal with about 80,000 non-paying customers. While filing for Chapter 11 is not a good thing it also does not mean that Amp’d mobile will be forced to shut down either.

To add just a little more to the current Chapter 11 issues, Verizon has now threatened to cut off Amp’d service. The threat to cut service came after the official Amp’d filing and looks like it is just a matter of Verizon protecting themselves.

Amp’d currently owes $33 million to Verizon. While Verizon does need to protect itself and cannot have another carrier using the network and not paying I would like to think that something will be worked out and not affect the paying customers of Amp’d.

  1. My Wife and I work Customer Service for Verizon Wireless and she received a call yesterday from an Indirect Verizon Wireless store called and said that out of nowhere, all the Amp'd Customers they had sold to had no service and when the agent tried to call the Amp'd customers they got some sort of error about the numbers not being in service. Is this the upcoming destruction of Amp'd?? hmmmmmm
