Microsoft required to change desktop search in Vista

Reuters is reporting that US antitrust authorities have reached an agreement with Microsoft that will require them to modify the desktop search feature in Vista. This comes in response to a complaint filed last December by Google stating that Vista does not leave much room for third party desktop search programs to be used properly. According to the agreement Microsoft will have to create a “mechanism” that will allow users to not only be able to install third party programs but also be able to set a default program of their choice.
