Dark-AleX, the unflappable PSP modder, put hope and life into the PSP homebrew community. Yet, just as they did with Lik-Sang, Sony has shut down another party bringing them loss.
He enumerates many reasons to his sudden retirement. The first being the obvious, Sony’s recent “menaces” towards PS3 hackers has show him the dire consequences of being caught. Secondly, he mentions the time consumption of testing and cracking each new firmware that Sony outputs.
Though I’ve personally never downloaded or installed custom firmware on my PSP, the possibilities of what could be accomplished with AleX’s OE Firmware were endless.
As for the PSP community, the hope is that Sony has won the battle, but the war goes on.
