At tomorrow’s shell-of-itself E3 conference, Microsoft will announce price drops for the Core, Premium, and Elite SKUs of the Xbox 360.
Somewhere, a Sony exec cringes.
A few hours after Sony formally announced a 80GB PS3 and price drops for all their units, Microsoft deftly strikes back. The Elite bundle, introduced by Microsoft a few months ago, takes a plunge from $479 to a nice, round $399. Meanwhile, the Premium package goes from $399 to $349, making the most consumer friendly unit even more, well, friendly. The tiny Core package drops 50 dollars to a meager $249, tying the Nintendo Wii for least wallet damaging next-gen console.
Given these recent price cuts of the powerhouse consoles shows a lot. For starters, while technology grows in homes worldwide, wallets remain fairly constant. Also, newer technology doesn’t always win customers over.
Last, but not least, the Wii is beating everybody.

I have only one problem with the price cut, it still is not at low as the Japan price [300] for the same Xbox 360. This price drop will likely not win my money, if anything I am now considering getting one of the other 2 consoles. The price drop needs to match a price that the overseas customers have been enjoying for quite some time now. As a consumer I see numbers… the one I would like to purchase currently costs $399 and to only drop it to $349 is not a great drop, I mean, the biggest of the numbers is still says 3. drop the price closer to $300 and you will see me picking up my wallet and tromping off to the store to get it. I will then feel like I am getting the best deal that can be gotten, but at $349 I am paying $50 bucks more than my Japanese counterpart for the same pleasure.

just buy one for god sakes i have one and is worth every single dollar 350 that is a good price tell me u think that the japanes make more money then us of coures not so stop crying have you see al the theing the 360 haves i mean dude or woman just buy one
Can they keep the price the same and just include the HD dvd capacity??? Really can I just a 3-pack of elites with halo 3 or some vol licenses. Home network & at the end of sept I will be upgrading for lan parties from the regular xbox (and H2). The cut will take a 1/2k off the top which is good… ];)}

I think that the Xbpx Price drop is a wonderful thing. Especially since so many of the Xbox 360 units are having Xbox Red Ring Of DEATH issues.
