Dell had originally announced last week that the Ubuntu based systems would sell for $50 cheaper, but then mistakenly priced the Ubuntu systems so that they actually ended up costing $225 more that the Vista Home Basic Edition systems. Once again Dell is acting in a stand up manner and admitting a mistake.

A Dell spokesperson told DesktopLinux.com that “Bottom line this was an oversight, pure and simple,”.

I cannot tell you just how refreshing it is to see a large company admit a mistake and take the actions needed to correct the issue in a timely manner. The pricing has already been corrected on the Dell website, making the Ubuntu based systems $50 cheaper than a similar system running Vista Home Basic Edition.
