Microsoft has confirmed that will be seeing a new Zune in time for the holiday shopping season. According to a Microsoft rep they are planning on adding some new sizes, styles and price points. They are also looking to have the Zune be just a bit more like the iPod with support for video and podcasts along with the current wireless feature and FM tuner.
The rep also mentioned that the Zune is great for consumers because they are future proof, so you can get a Zune and not have to worry about it being obsolete because the Zune’s firmware can always be updated making new features available — just like every other RAM based device out there.
No specific launch date or pricing has been announced yet, but with all the lack of excitement with the 1 million Zune mark, I am not sure how many people will be waiting for Zune 2.0.
