The FCC website reveals something new today. Though cloaked in confidentiality agreements and not much here, I think we can provide a good guess at this point. Here are the facts:
The FCC is reviewing a Toshiba media player with WiFi dubbed MET401
2.4″ display
runs windows CE
4GB of flash memory
My Estimation
Running it through the FCC now means you’ll see this for the holiday rush. The windows OS has me a little confused. Why? Why pay MS to run something simple as a media player? It must connect to the internet and allow online downloading without the need for a computer hook up. I’d bet on internet, email, and online music, video and movie downloading or at least streaming.
Surely it is not designed to mate with Zunes out there enjoying the social? The Gigabeat got decent reviews — this has the makings of a very interesting product.
