Verizon customers send/receive over 10 billion SMS messages in June

Verizon Wireless customers sent and received over 10 billion text messages in June 2007. Currently this is the highest monthly total for any wireless provider in the nation. Along with the 10 billion text messages Verizon’s customers also sent and received over 200 million multimedia (picture or video) messages. It seems that messaging is really becoming a much more popular option here in the US, these numbers are more than 100% increase from just last September.

To realize just how many messages 10 billion truly is: “if a person were to send a single text message every 15 seconds, it would take more than 4,750 years of continuous texting to send 10 billion text messages and more than 95 years to send 200 million multimedia message”.
