new imac keyboard

Engadget has might have snagged a big story – again. For months rumors have been circulating around a brushed metal iMac, along with MacBook-style keyboards.

Well, that thing pictured above may be the keyboard in question. On a Hong Kong Apple forum, a member named Rhapsody says that he/she has this keyboard and

will sell you the keyboard (s/he has more than one) for 1,200 of the local stuff or about $153.40.

Let’s be reasonable here, shall we? The thing reeks of Photoshop, and even the exif data contains traces of “Photoshop”. Also, the Apple logo is missing from the Command Key, something that has been on every Apple keyboard for quite some time. Additionally, the numeric pad has an equals (=) button. That’s either a Photoshop error or one of Jobs’ innovations.

Other than these gaffes, the amount of pictures of the device makes it look pretty legit. Again, rumors have it that the new iMac will be out sometime in August.

Oh, and the keyboard is aluminum, which just might confirm the brushed-metal iMac rumors.

  2. The apple logo on the command key has stuck around since the Apple II. It also makes it easier to understand the command key (with actually the word command).

Also, the equals key is useless, that's why I use the enter button. Also, see <a href="http://www.webopedia.com/FIG/NUM-KEP.gif" rel="nofollow">this image for evidence that the equal button has been there a while (on some keyboards, I remember seeing it as well).

  3. Are you high? The equal button is right here on my actual Apple Wireless Keyboard.

    Where are those "Photoshop traces"?

Who f* cares about the apple logo on the command buttom? Also its obviously not the final version of the keyboard.

Wanna say that the keyboard is fake? Alright. But came with real arguments!

  4. My keyboard already has an equal button in the exact same position showed in the picture. It doesn't proof that it's not a fake, it just proof you never looked at a Apple keyboard :)
