By early 2008, Sony’s PS3 will see the day when it will be programmed to record TV shows for users of the 21st century. Warwick Light, the sales & marketing manager of Computer Entertainment New Zealand, gave out details to a website saying that Sony will keep transforming the abilities of the PS3 in order to meet the evolving entertainment demands of users.
“We’re also hoping next year – about the same time that Freeview launches its terrestrial broadcasting service – to release a digital tuner for the PS3, turning it into a programmable TV recorder,” said Light.
The Freeview services that Light mentioned are due to be released in March next year in New Zealand. The official announcement is anticipated by industry watchers to be given out this year at the Leipzig Games convention. Sony, previously, denied to comment on the matter claiming that they don’t wish to discuss about “rumors and speculations“. The report on which Sony declined to comment also claimed a price cut on the PS3 for the European market and the DVR capability for the PS3.
