italian wal mart bikeWTF? Check out what Wal-Mart’s got online: Corsa full carbon monocoque road bikes! Oh it is the real deal with Shimano Ultegra parts, Shimano wheels and no pedals: just like you would find at your local bike shop.

Ride it out of the box?

“This bike was assembled by the hands of skilled Italian mechanics to be tuned up and ready to ride right out of the box. We worked directly with the factory in Italy to offer you a premium ride at everyday low prices. Minimal assembly is required for this premium bicycle.”

I’ll believe that when I see it. Most Wal-Mart bikes are junky, and cost from $50 to $300. They have started to bring in some road bikes in the $400 range, but they seem to sit there. If you are looking for a deal on a bike, I’d suggest steering clear of Wal-Mart, hit the local shop and ask for a last season’s model.

Wal-Mart offers 3 Corsa models starting with $976 for an all aluminum frame and follows that with a $1300 aluminum/carbon version.

Five bucks says some Wal-Mart employee wanted this bike for himself and convinced the powers to offer it online. If you do pick one up, shoot me an email and let me know what you think of it.
