The new UBiQUiO 503G Windows Mobile 6 Smartphone

UBiQUiO is seeking to be more than a raw, new player in the Smartphone industry. Being part of the online retailer Expansys, the brand has been in existence for over seven years now. Besides the 503G featured here today, it has also previously participated seriously in the UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) market, with a Skype phone and a Bluetooth keyboard to their name as well.

I was pleasantly impressed by the hardware. A 520MHz Marvell XScale PXA 270 CPU has been combined with a Qualcomm 6280 3G/HSDPA chip. What’s more, UBiQUiO took the liberty to add 96MB of RAM and 192MB of ROM, although most of the ROM is used to accommodate Windows Mobile 6 Professional and the pre-installed applications. Strange though, that a lot of the RAM memory seems to be used up by default, especially compared to devices with only 64MB of RAM. The same goes for the ROM, but stay tuned to their site for a possible fix and update!
