More of a fantasy purchase than a realistic aspiration for most of us I expect, but the Nikon D300 is a ‘thing of beauty’ just to look at. I can only imagine what it would be like to actually hold and use one of these.
Oh yes, I am a Nikon fan in case you hadn’t figured – the proud owner of a D80. I suppose that both in terms of timing and features it will be compared to the Canon D40. If that is something you would want to do here are the numbers:
Stand out features for me are:
12.3MP DX format (24x16mm) CMOS sensor
3-inch 920,000-pixel LCD
sensitivity of ISO 200 to ISO 3,200 with a Hi-1 mode that extends that to an equivalent to ISO 6,400 and a Lo-1 mode that extends down to ISO 100
a Self-Cleaning sensor
The D300 will cost around $1800 for the body only, and should be available in November.
