You should not attempt to cool electronics with water

Xbox 360 LogoWe have all heard the complaints about how the Xbox power supply will get very hot, recently a North Carolina teenager experienced this very problem and decided that the most efficient way to cool it off was to stick it in a bowl of cool water. This special message should be applied to all electronics: Do not attempt to cool in water, especially when they are still plugged in. The 14 year old teen was knocked unconscious from the shock and sent to the hospital (where he spent the night) with minor burns to his hand and foot.

While its important to remember the proper way to cool a device, I guess we can all sympathize with this teen. Just wanting to play video games and having his overheating console shut down every 5 minutes. According to his mother he, “thought the problem was likely linked to overheating” and duly “tried to fix it on his own based on tips he found online”. I also take into consideration that the mother allowed him to attempt this fix and she was surprised to see him unconscious on the floor when she arrived back from visiting the neighbors.

  3. Unbelievably stupid that any 14 year-old didn't know any better. But Richard, Americans don't have a monopoly on idiocy, as you would certainly realize if you weren't motivated by bigotry. Tsk.

  4. American or not, it might be possible that a 14 years old kid haven't learned yet about electricity+water … must be his first try at playing with live wires. He will start listening to his physic's teacher now for sure…
He will certainly die when he'll drive his first car.
There are so many morons in this world …
