The HG10 uses the up-and-coming AVCHD format, which gives roughly the quality of MPEG-2 video in half the storage space. The device itself is compact — 1.1 pounds and 3.2 by 3 by 5.1 inches, but with a 2.7-inch screen that has a wide angle view.
