
Acer has recently launched a new series in their GPS department, the P700, series. Some key new features in the P700 is a 4.3 inch screen, and the new version of ALK CoPilot navigation software. This software boasts a simpler and easier to understand UI. . Additionally, it comes with a PIN-lock, which you can set a combo to lock the unit.
Also, the maps for the P700 series will be provided by Navteq. As of now, the P700 series will come with two models; Acer P710, which will come with a 512MB SD expansion and regional maps, and the Acer P730, which has a 2GB SD expansion and maps of Europe. The P730 boasts RDS-TMC traffic information. Other features summed up in the P700 series are as follows:
- Integrated SiRF III GPS receiver
- 4.3″ LCD display at 16/9 and 480×272 resolution supporting upto 16.7 million colors
- 64 MB of ROM and 64 MB of RAM
- SD/MMC port
- 1100mAh Li-Ion battery – lasts upto 3 hours
- 1.5 Watt internal speaker
- Windows CE.net 5.0
- ALK CoPilot 7 navigation software with maps provided by Navteq; radars preloaded
- RDS/TMC Premium traffic Information (only on P730)
- Image viewer
Coming in October, the P710 will cost 199 Euros and the Acer P730, which has the maps of Europe costs 249 Euros, coming to about 280 dollars and 350 dollars, respectively.
