AT&T had launched the Smart Limits service in an effort to give parents more control over their children’s wireless use except one flaw arose that required AT&T take the service off-line until the problem can be corrected. The flaw is one that you should not have had to worry about, the system was actually blocking calls from 911. The flaw in the Smart Limits service prevented 911 operators from getting a call through to the “limited access” phones.

While it’s definitely not a good thing to have such a serious flaw in an system that was designed to help children, its nice to see that AT&T acknowledged the issue and took the service off line until it can be corrected.
