Dell is preparing for the next Linux desktop, Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon which is expected to be released on October 18th. Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon is Canonical’s next major upgrade for desktop and server users. In the upgrade, Ubuntu 7.10 will offer support for a 3D interface, multi-monitor configurations and laptop power profiling. These are only a few features mentioned as there are still more to come. With the current popularity of Ubuntu, this upgrade could help desktop Linux become a mainstream operating system.
